Depeche Mode’s ‘Things you said’ playing in my ear to ease my way into my Sunday writing. I love music and the benefits it brings: relaxation. It brings more, but this is what it’s doing for me today. I edited a novel and the feedback was not what I expected.
I received some harsh critique about the changes made along with disappointment in the new direction I’d taken one of the main characters. Hearing these heartfelt and honest reviews from people I trust was a dose of who are you writing for? I know I touched upon this in previous posts, but it bears repeating. Not everyone is going to like what you write, nor is it expected. Don’t lose yourself during self-editing.
Just remember to write with passion, what you believe in, what excites you, what you like, what makes you dance and laugh out loud by yourself in that special place where you pen or type out your wonderful words. Write like there are no rules…and dance to your own tune. You will create some beautiful music.
